Nine militants killed in Afghanistan's Badakhshan province

Faizabad, Afghanistan, Aug 27 (Xinhua) At least nine militants have been confirmed dead as fighting aircrafts targeted Taliban hideouts in Karan wa Munjan district of the northern Badakhshan province, said a statement of the army on Tuesday.

The air raids, according to the statement, were conducted late on Monday night in Askazar area of the restive district, killing nine armed militants and injuring two others.

A number of arms and ammunitions of the militants were also destroyed in the raids, the statement added.

Taliban militants who are in control of the major parts of Karan wa Munjan district haven't commented.
