Islamabad, Oct 6 (IBNS): Former Pakistan PM Nawaz Sharif on Friday described the arrest of politician Shehbaz Sharif as "worst victimization".

He also said that the Pakistani government was responsible for the arrest.

"Shehbaz, being the chief minister of Punjab, set an example of public service with honesty," Nawaz was quoted as saying by Geo News.

"His services were acknowledged by the people, foreign governments and international organisations," he said.

He said that "everyone knows the PTI government is responsible for this worst vicitimisation."

In a major development,  former Punjab chief minister Shehbaz Sharif has been arrested by the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) in connection with the Ashiana-i-Iqbal Housing Scheme case on Friday, media reports said.

"The Leader of the Opposition in the National Assembly has been accused of corruption in the Ashiana Housing case," reported Dawn News.
