India hands over 21,000 MT of fertilizer to crisis-hit Sri Lanka

Colombo:  The Indian High Commissioner to Sri Lanka Gopal Bagley has officially handed over  21,000 MT of fertilizer supplied under India's Special Support Program to the people of Sri Lanka, giving support to the people of the country amid distress.

This follows 44,000 tonnes supplied last month under India's Special Support Program, totalling about USD 4bn in 2022, reports News1st.

The Indian High Commission in Sri Lanka tweeted: " Adding to the fragrance of friendship and cooperation. High Commissioner formally handed over 21,000 tonnes of fertilizer supplied under ’s special support to the people of . This follows 44,000 tonnes supplied last month under n support totalling about USD 4bn in 2022."

The island nation is currently facing its worst-ever economic and financial crisis which triggered nation-wide protests across the island nation.
