The directorate overlooking the prisons and detention centers in the ministry of interior issued a statement today confirming the execution of the five prisoners.
The statement further added that the men were hanged to death earlier this morning after their death pentalty orders were approved by President Mohammad Ashraf Ghani.
The directorate also added that the men were also found guilty of murder besides committing kidnappings in western Herat province of Afghanistan.
