Bangladesh witnesses 21 COVID-19 deaths in past 24 hours

Dhaka: Bangladesh, a nation that witnessed a deadly wave of the COVID-19 pandemic in recent times, registered 21 deaths due to the virus in the past 24 hours.

The death toll due to the disease now stands at 27,635.

The COVID-19 caseload rose to 1,560,155 as 703 people tested positive for the disease in the 24 hours to 8 am on Wednesday, according to the latest government data, reports bdnews24.

Dhaka registered the most daily new cases among the eight divisions, logging 518 infections. Dhaka and Chattogram also registered 8 fatalities each, the news portal reported.

The first COVID-19 case in Bangladesh was registered last year.
