The victims were identified as Shatosiddhi Chakma, 38, general secretary of JSS-backed Jubo Samiti’s central committee, and Eno Chakma, 35, general secretary of the upazila unit, reported Dhaka Tribune.

The police told the newspaper that the victims were resting when they were attacked.

The identities of the attackers are still not known.

The motive of the attack is unclear.

Police recovered the bodies and sent them to Khagrachhari Sadar Hospital for autopsy, AM Manjurul Alam, officer-in-charge (OC) of Baghaichhari police station told Dhaka Tribune.
