Bangladesh: Awami League activist hacked to death

Dhaka/IBNS: An Awami League activist was hacked to death by unidentified person in Jashore’s Sharsha area in Bangladesh, media reports said.

The incident took place in Mollapara area of Keralkhali village of Sharsha Upazila on Tuesday evening, Sharsha Police Station OC Ataur Rahman told bdnesw24.

The deceased person was identified as Anisur Rahman, 45.

Anisur was conversing with others in a tea stall in Mollapara when Nasir Uddin attacked him from behind, Nizampur Union Parishad Chairman Abul Kalam told the news portal.

"Nasir attacked Anisur with an axe and a hammer. The assailant managed to flee before the locals could take any action," Kalam said.

He was taken to Upazila Health Complex where the doctor declared him brought dead.  

“Nasir is known as a criminal. He has recently returned to Bangladesh from abroad after a while,” Kalam told bdnesw24.
