Kabul, Sept 17 (IBNS): Two blasts rocked Afghanistan's Charikar and Kabul cities on Tuesday with one of them even targeting a rally that was addressed by country's President Ashraf Ghani.

The blast close to the rally in Charikar left 24 killed and 30 others injured, local media reports said.

The blast occurred at a time when Ghani was about to address the campaign rally.

The other blast took place in Kabul city.

It occurred close to the US Embassy.

Officials at the Ministry of Interior confirmed that the explosion near Massoud Square was caused by a suicide attacker and that it detonated close to one of the Ministry of Defense’s buildings in Police District 9 (PD9) in the city of Kabul, reported Tolo News.

Meanwhile, Taliban terror group has claimed responsibility for the incidents.

Taliban spokesman Zabiullah Mujahid said in a statement that a suicide bomber detonated his explosives close to the Personnel Department of the Ministry of Defense in Kabul city this afternoon, reported Khaama Press.

Mujahid further added that another suicide bomber of the group detonated his explosives close to an election rally in Charikar city.
