Afghanistan: Security forces kill 89 Taliban terrorists in past 24 hours

Kabul: Afghanistan security forces killed 89 Taliban terrorists while conducting operations in several provinces in the country in the past 24 hours, the Ministry of Defence said on Monday.

"89 Taliban terrorists were killed and 82 were wounded as a result of ANDSF operations in Kunar, Kandahar, Herat, Farah, Faryab, Samangan, Helmand, Nimruz, Takhar & Kapisa provinces during the last 24 hours," read a statement issued by the Ministry of Defence.

"Also, 13 IEDs which were placed by Taliban on public roads, were discovered & defused by Afghan National Army," read the statement.

Afghanistan is witnessing a resurgence of violence ever since foreign forces started leaving the country.

The Taliban has captured several regions in the country.
