Afghanistan : 56 militants killed, wounded in Kunduz clash

Kabul, Nov 12 (IBNS) :The Afghan Military in the North claims at least 56  militants have been killed or wounded during a clash with the security forces in northern Kunduz province of Afghanistan.

Local Khaama Press quoted the Afghan Military  as saying in a statement issued on  Sunday that a clash broke out between the Taliban militants and the Afghan National Defense and Security Forces (ANDSF) in Dasht Archi district of Kunduz on Saturday.

The statement further added that 25 militants were killed during the clash and artillery and airstrikes which were carried out in response to the attack.

According to 209th Shaheen Corps, two key commanders of the group identified as Sakhi Ur Rehman and Qari Hejran were among those killed.

At least 31 militants including some commanders of the group were also wounded, the 209th Shaheen Corps said, adding that Mullah Basir who is also famous as Siya was among those wounded and the identities of the remaining yet to be ascertained.

The Afghan forces and local residents did not suffer any casualty during the clash, the 209th Shaheen Corps added in its statement
