Islamabad/IBNS/UNI: Five soldiers and three terrorists were killed in a clash in Pakistan's southwestern Balochistan province, an army statement said.

The Inter Service Public Relations (ISPR), the media wing of the Pakistan Army, said late Saturday night that an improvised explosive device (IED) exploded in the Buleda area of Kech district of the province.

The IED explosion was followed by an intense exchange of fire between security personnel and the terrorists, the ISPR said in a statement, adding that five soldiers and three terrorists were killed during the clash.

A clearance operation has been carried out to eliminate the presence of terrorists from the area, the statement said.

The military said that the security forces of Pakistan remain determined to thwart the attempts to sabotage peace, stability and progress in Balochistan, and such sacrifices of soldiers have further strengthened the nation's resolve.
