New York, Aug 27 (IBNS): Hollywood actor Tom Hardy has started shooting for Dunkirk.

"Pictures snapped on the set of the film, which has been filmed in Northern France and California, show Hardy locked into the section of a Spitfire's cockpit as bespoke camera equipment is wedged around it," dailymail.co.uk reported.

Dunkirk is an upcoming British epic action-thriller film written, co-produced and directed by Christopher Nolan.

The story is set in World War II and centres around the Dunkirk evacuation.

The film is likely to be released on July  21 next year.
