New York, Jun 14 (IBNS): Prince, the legendary Purple Rain music icon who passed away on April 21, was honoured with his own place on the Apollo Theater's Walk of Fame in Harlem, according to media reports on Tuesday.

Prince, who is said to have died from a self-administered overdose of Fentanyl, had turned down several honours during his lifetime, including twice turning down invitations to be on Hollywood's Walk of Fame.

A plaque bearing the name Prince will be installed in the sidewalk outside the Theater.

Among those honoured before Prince, include Michael Jackson, Ella Fitzgerald, James Brown and Aretha Franklin.
