New York City, May 26 (IBNS): Disgraced Hollywood mogul Harvey Weinstein has been granted bail on 1 million USD bond shortly after he turned himself in to New York Police on Friday, reports said.

Weinstein is facing several sexual abuse charges, brought against him by a string of top actresses.

However, the former The Weinstein Company boss has claimed having consensual sex with the accusers.

Actress Rose McGowan, who accused Weinstein of rape, told the BBC: "It's a very significant moment, it's a concrete slap in the face of abuse of power. It's just the beginning of that process and if we can see this through to the end, I hope we emerge victorious."

Weinstein has also agreed to wear a GPS tracker and to surrender his passport to police.

Reports have also stated that he was handcuffed and taken to court, where prosecutor Joan Illuzzi said  Weinstein had "used his position, money and power to lure young women into situations where he was able to violate them sexually".

The case has been adjourned until July 30.
