Drishyam 3 release delayed, Mohanlal confirms new date

The much-anticipated return of Georgekutty has been pushed back, with Mohanlal announcing a new release date for Drishyam 3.

Taking to social media on Monday, the actor confirmed that the film will now hit theatres worldwide on May 21, 2026, coinciding with his birthday. The film was earlier slated for release on April 2.

“The past never stays silent… it only waits. Georgekutty arrives, May 21st 2026,” Mohanlal wrote, building excitement among fans.

Reports suggest the delay may be linked to ongoing tensions in the Gulf region, though an official reason has not been detailed.

Directed by Jeethu Joseph, the film sees Mohanlal reprise his iconic role as Georgekutty. The cast also includes Meena, Ansiba Hassan, Esther Anil, Asha Sharath, Siddique, Murali Gopy, and KB Ganesh Kumar.

Mohanlal had completed shooting for the film in December last year, notably beginning work on the project the same day he received Indian cinema’s highest honour, the Dadasaheb Phalke Award.

The Drishyam franchise remains one of Malayalam cinema’s most influential series. The original Drishyam (2013) redefined thriller storytelling in India, while Drishyam 2 (2021) continued its gripping narrative, setting high expectations for the third installment.

With the new release date locked, fans can now look forward to another chapter in Georgekutty’s story next summer.
