Los Angeles, Aug 28 (IBNS):  American actor and comedian Alec Baldwin has joined the starcast of upcoming Hollywood movie based on DC's clown prince of crime- Joker, media reports said.

Alec is likely to play the character of Batman's father in the movie.

"Baldwin has been tapped for the role of Thomas Wayne, who in Batman lore is the father of Bruce Wayne, the future caped crusader," reported Hollywood Reporter.

But this being a movie project that will veer off-center from the traditional Batman canon, sources told Hollywood Reporter the script paints Thomas Wayne as a cheesy and tanned businessman who is more in the mold of a 1980s Donald Trump.

The movie is going to be  Warner Bros.' stand-alone movie centered on the character of Joker.

Alec was recently seen by his fans in Paramount's hit Mission: Impossible - Fallout.

The Tom Cruise movie has become one of the major hits of the year so far.
