Actor Joaquin Phoenix wins Oscars Best Actor for Joker

Los Angeles/IBNS: As was expected by many of his fans, actor Joaquin Rafael Phoenix won the Oscars Best Actor in a Leading Role award for his memorable performance in the movie 'Joker'.

Joker is a 2019 American psychological thriller film directed and produced by Todd Phillips, who co-wrote the screenplay with Scott Silver.

The film, based on DC Comics characters, stars Joaquin Phoenix as the Joker and provides a possible origin story for the character.

Joker premiered at the 76th Venice International Film Festival on August 31, 2019, where it won the Golden Lion, and was released in the United States on October 4, 2019.

The film is nominated for a leading 11 awards, including Best Picture, Best Director, and Best Actor for Phoenix, in the Academy Awards.

At the 77th Golden Globe Awards, it won Best Original Score for Hildur Guðnadóttir and Best Actor – Drama for Phoenix. It also earned a leading 11 nominations at the 73rd British Academy Film Awards, including Best Film, Best Director, and Best Actor for Phoenix. It won the Best Original Score.
