Mumbai: Uddhav Thackeray has obtained the authorisation to take action against rebel party MLAs in a National Executive meeting on Saturday, media reports said.

As the rebel MLA faction moved to call itself "Shiv Sena Balasaheb Thackeray" in a letter to Election Commission,  Uddhav Thackeray will now be officially empowered to take action.

Shiv Sena chief spokesperson Sanjay Raut has praised Thackeray and said the party workers will fight elections under his leadership.

Meanwhile, Maharashtra Assembly Deputy Speaker rejected the no-confidence motion moved by Eknath Shinde camp against him. The no-confidence motion was signed by 33 MLAs and sent to him through an anonymous email id, according to the report.

Uddhav Thackeray, who has been deserted by the majority of the MLAs of the party he heads, said he would form a new Shiv Sena without those who sided with BJP.
