Siddaramaiah sends defamation notice to PM Modi, Amit Shah, BS Yeddyurappa for accusing CM of corruption

Bengaluru, May 7 (IBNS): Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah has sent defamation notice to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) national president Amit Shah and the party's Chief Ministerial candidate in poll-bound Karnataka, BS Yeddyurappa, for accusing the CM of corruption, media reports said.

Siddaramaiah has demanded a public apology from all the three.

The CM has accused the trio of bringing "untrue and baseless" allegations against him during the poll campaign on last Saturday.

The defamation notice has been quoted by NDTV as saying, "... you are called upon to cease and desist from making such statements forthwith and give an unconditional public apology immediately through electronic, print and social media etc. in which the statements and advertisements have appeared."

Karnataka will go into polls on May 12.

The results will be announced on May 15.

The polls will see bigwigs Yeddyurappa and Siddaramaiah take on one another.

Karnataka is one of the few bastions left ruled by the Congress party.
