Serial murders in Assam trains : Police arrests main culprit

Guwahati, July 12 (IBNS): The police has finally arrested the main culprit of the murders of a girl and a woman in two passenger trains within 24 hours in upper Assam.

According to the reports, the serial killer identified as Bikash Das, a tea stall owner near Tinsukia railway station, has reportedly admitted of committing the crimes.

Police on Thursday arrested the accused based on the CCTV footage of Tinsukia railway station and also the sketch of the suspected killer released by the Railway Protection Force (RPF).

On July 10, the RPF personnel found a semi naked body of a 21-year-old girl in a toilet of the Tinsukia-Rangia passenger train at Simaluguri railway junction in upper Assam’s Sivsagar district with a cloth was tied around her neck and blood oozing out of her nose.

On July 11, the RPF discovered another semi naked body of a 55-year-old woman from a toilet of the Avadh Assam Express at Mariani railway junction.

The woman was also tied a cloth around her neck wuth blood was oozing out of her nose.
