Sardar Patel birth anniversary: Did PM Modi take a subtle jab at the Congress?

| @indiablooms | Oct 31, 2017, at 04:20 pm

New Delhi, Oct 31 (IBNS): Speaking at the flagging off programme for 'Run For Unity', Prime Minister Modi on Tuesday said that "people tried to ensure the contribution of Sardar Patel is forgotten", thereby raising the question, "Did he take a subtle jab at the opponents?"

It is no mystery that both the Congress and the BJP top brass trade barbs regularly, at times about petty issues, but more often than not they are direct in nature.

Even though the Prime Minister didn't indulge in name calling, it can only point towards one thing, as the Congress has wielded power in Indian politics and policy making for a good number of years.

"However, the youth of India respects him and his contribution towards the building of our nation," the Prime Minister added.

Hailing Indian's diversity, he said, "India is proud of our diversity. We are home to so many cultures, languages, lifestyles."

Experts feel that the recent barrage of allegations from Modi about how prominent Congress leaders, mainly the extended Nehru-Gandhi family, have tried to overshadow prominent Gujarati stalwart like Patel, is a strategy to sway the voters in the BJP's favour, ahead of the state polls, which is scheduled for Dec 9 and 14.
