President condoles passing away of General O.P. Malhotra
New Delhi, Dec 29 (IBNS): President of India Pranab Mukherjee on Tuesday condoled the passing away of General O.P. Malhotra, former Chief of the Army Staff.
In his condolence message to his son, Ajai Malhotra, the President has said, “I am sad to learn about the passing away of your father, General O.P. Malhotra."
"General Malhotra served the Indian Army with distinction for more than four decades. He was a distinguished public servant who made his mark as Chief of the Army Staff, Ambassador of India to Indonesia, Administrator of Chandigarh and Governor of Punjab. For his outstanding services to the nation and the Indian Army, he was honoured with ParamVishistSeva Medal in 1976. General Malhotra’s services to the nation will be always remembered," Mukherjee said.
"Kindly accept my heartfelt condolences and convey the same to other members of your family. I pray to the Almighty to give you and your family the strength and courage to bear this irreparable loss," the president stated.
