Islamabad, Jan 15 (IBNS) A Pakistani Minister has said Jaish-i-Mohammad chief Maulana Masood Azhar has been kept under 'protective custody'.

Punjab Law Minister Rana Sanaullah told Dawn News that Azhar  has not been 'arrested'.

The provincial law minister told the Pakistani channel that Azhar will only face arrest and legal action if his involvement in the Pathankot attack is proved beyond doubt.

India on Thursday said it has no information that Azhar has been arrested in Pakistan.

"We have no information regarding arrest of Masood Azhar," MEA spokesperson Vikas Swarup said while addressing a press conference in New Delhi.

Since Wednesday  evening, Pakistani media reported that Azhar had been detained two days ago along with top relatives.

He said India welcomed Pakistan's move to investigate into the Pathankot air base attack.

"Some positive steps have been taken," Swarup said.
