KCR's TRS announces support to Yashwant Sinha in Presidential poll

| @indiablooms | Jun 27, 2022, at 04:43 pm

New Delhi/Hyderabad/IBNS: Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao's party Telangana Rashtriya Samithi (TRS) has announced its support to the Opposition's joint candidate Yashwant Sinha in the upcoming Presidential election, media reports said.

Telangana Minister KT Rama Rao announced the decision tweeting, "President of @trspartyonline Sri KCR Garu has decided to extend support to the candidature of Sri @YashwantSinha Ji in the election for President of India

"Along with our Members of Parliament, I will be representing the TRS at the nomination today."

The decision to back Sinha is interesting as the TRS maintains an equal distance from the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and the combined Opposition which includes Congress.

However, KCR has always backed a union of regional parties to form a federal front.

Meanwhile, BJP has pitted its tribal leader and former Jharkhand Governor Draupadi Murmu against Sinha for the polls.
