'If Amit Shah kept his word to me, Maharashtra would have a BJP CM by now': Uddhav Thackeray hits out at rival

Mumbai/IBNS: A day after his replacement-rebel Shiv Sena leader Eknath Shinde took charge as Chief Minister of Maharashtra, Uddhav Thackeray issued a rejoinder for his rival, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).

"If Amit Shah had kept his word to me, Maharashtra would have a BJP Chief Minister by now," his rejoinder said.
Thackeray's invoice, issued in his first media briefing after he resigned in a Facebook address two nights ago, said if the BJP were willing to give up the post of Chief Minister for an outsider, why didn't it just do so in 2019?
It was in 2019 when Thackeray ended a 30-year alliance of his party with the BJP after their combination won the state election.
Thackeray said he had been promised in negotiations with Amit Shah ahead of the election that the Sena and BJP would time-share the Chief Minister's term - what's known as a "rotating Chief Minister".
However, the BJP indicated it had made no such assurance.
Thackeray then entered a new alliance engineered by Sharad Pawar including the NCP and the Congress as a third wheel. Together, the alliance was larger than any other combination -and eventually, Thackeray became Chief Minister.
The Sena chief's misfortune came when his party leader Eknath Shinde revolted last week with the support of 40 MLAs.

Shinde's rebellion had led to the uninstallation of the Maha Vikas Aghadi government with Sena chief Uddhav Thackeray stepping down as the Chief Minister Wednesday night.

On Thursday evening, the rebel leader took oath as the chief minister in a new twist as BJP's Devendra Fadnavis was expected to take on the reigns again. He instead took oath as the Deputy CM at the request of BJP supremo JP Nadda.
