Dadri lynching chargesheet filed

Lucknow, Dec 24 (IBNS) The Uttar Pradesh police have filed the chargesheet in the Dadri lynching case against 15 persons including son of a local BJP leader, reports said

The chargesheet was filed on Wednesday, three months after the incident in which Mohammad Akhlaq, a Dadri resident, was beaten to death following rumour over cow slaughter and beef eating.

The chargesheet is based on the statement given by Mohammad Akhlaq’s daughter Shaista, who is also the key witness in the case. He added that two suspects were still at large.

The chargesheet mentions, “on 28th September, announcement was made from a temple claiming Akhlaq had cooked beef… soon a crowd had gathered which lynched Akhlaq and severely a‎ssaulted his son Danish”. However, police sources said it quotes both Akhlaque’s family and the accused to say that suspicion of cow slaughter was the motive for the lynching.

Forensic tests later proved that the meat found in Mohammed Akhlaq’s fridge was mutton, not beef.
