CISF staff strip search pregnant woman in Guwahati airport to verify pregnancy

Guwahati, June 26 (IBNS): In a shocking incident, a pregnant woman was allegedly “strip-searched” at Lokapriya Gopinath Bordoloi International Airport, Guhawati as a CISF lady staff wanted to verify her pregnancy.

The incident happened on June 24, when the pregnant woman was returning to Delhi from Guwahati with her husband after attending the last rituals of her father.

According to the reports, the couple Shivam Sarmah and Doli Goswami came to Guwahati on June 12 after the latter’s father passed away on June 11 night.

After attending the last rituals, the couple travelled from Guwahati to Delhi by Spicejet flight SG-169 on June 24.

What is more shocking is that instead of getting a medical professional to examine her pregnancy, a lady CISF staff identified as Sujata by the couple, had manually examined the pregnant woman by pushing her abdomen.

Doli Goswami is 25 weeks pregnant.

According to the reports, Shivam Sarmah had requested the Spicejet staff to arrange a wheelchair for his wife but the CISF staff did not hand over boarding pass and asked the pregnant woman to show proof of her pregnancy.

Shivam said that, he had also shown his wife's June 12 Delhi to Guwahati flight boarding pass, but the CISF staff denied to hand over boarding pass.

“The lady CISF staff asked my wife to accompany her to a room and forced to undress. The CISF lady staff also pushed my wife's abdomen to check her pregnancy,” said he.
