Arvind Kejriwal's nephew arrested on PWD graft charges

New Delhi, May 10 (IBNS) : Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal’s nephew Vinay Bansal  was on Thursday arrested by police on graft charges, media reports said.

The Hindu said quoting sources that Bansal was arrested from his residence in  north west Delhi's Pitampura  for  his involvement in the scam relating to the construction of drains by the Public Works Department (PWD).

Three FIRs had been filed by the ACB in connection with the alleged scam exactly a year ago.

The ACB registered the case in 2017 against the company Renu Constructions and named  Vinay Bansal’s father Surender Bansal and others involved in the company’s operations.

Surender Bansal passed away soon after he was named in the FIR registered against his company.

The FIRs were registered on the basis of a complaint by Rahul Sharma, the founder of NGO Roads Anti-Corruption Organisation (RACO) which alleged irregularities in the grant of contracts for roads and sewer lines in Delhi in 2015-16, The Hindu said.

The AAP termed the arrest as “motivated and an act of political vendetta.”
