Xi Jinping congratulates Sheikh Hasina over her victory in Bangladesh general elections

Dhaka, Dec 31 (IBNS): Chinese President Xi Jinping and Prime Minister Li Keqiang have congratulated Bangladesh PM Sheikh Hasina for winning the 11th parliamentary polls of the country held on Sunday.

Zhang Zuo, the Chinese envoy to Dhaka, handed over their messages to Hasina at her Ganabhaban residence on Monday, PM's Press Secretary Ihsanul Karim, told bdnews24.

The Chinese envoy highly appreciated Hasina's leadership for development of Bangladesh and hoped that her ‘Vision-2021’ will be materialised, reported the news portal.

“Bangladesh will turn into a middle income country by 2021,” he was quoted as saying by the media.

Bangladesh voted to elect a new Prime Minister on Sunday.

Sheikh Hasina and her Awami League scripted a massive victory in the polls.

She came to power for the third straight term.
