Thirteen Taliban insurgents killed in Afghanistan airstrikes

Afghanistan, Aug 22 (IBNS) : At least 13 Taliban insurgents including two of their local leaders were killed or wounded during the US airstrikes in eastern Nangarhar province of Afghanistan.

Local Khaama Press quoted a statement of the  provincial police commandment as saying that the airstrike was carried out by the US forces on Monday morning.

The statement further added that unmanned aerial vehicles targeted the Taliban insurgents in Marki Khel Tangi area of Shirzad district.

At least two Taliban leaders identified as Salahuddin and Abid were among the four militants killed and at least nine others were wounded, the statement said.

According to the local officials, the local residents and security personnel on the ground did not suffer any casualties in the airstrike.

The anti-government armed militant groups including the Taliban insurgents have not commented regarding the report so far.
