Islamabad/UNI: A terrorist was killed in an intelligence-based operation in the North Waziristan district of Pakistan's northwest Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province, a military statement said.

During the conduct of the operation on Friday, an intense exchange of fire took place between the security forces and the terrorists, resulting in the killing of the terrorist, the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), the media wing of the Pakistani military, said in the statement.

Weapons and ammunition were recovered from the killed terrorist, the ISPR said, adding that the deceased was actively involved in terrorist activities against security forces and killing of innocent citizens.

"Locals of the area appreciated the operation and expressed their full support to eliminate the menace of terrorism from the area," said the statement.
