Kabul, Aug 24 (IBNS): Suspected Taliban terrorists flogged a young couple on charges of eloping in northern Faryab province of Afghanistan, media reports said on Saturday.

Officials in Faryab Police Headquarters confirmed that the incident took place in Kohistan district of Faryab earlier today, reported Khaama Press.

The officials further told the news agency that the 17-year-old girl engaged to another man eloped with a 20-year-old man with whom she earlier contacts.

The Taliban arrested the couple and flogged the duo after convicting them of wrongdoing in a Kangaroo Court, the officials told the news agency.

The Taliban group has not commented on the issue so far.
