Pakistani man guns down WhatsApp community's administrator for removing him from group

A Pakistani man has been charged with allegedly killing the administrator of a WhatsApp community after he was removed from the chat in the South Asian country's Peshawar city, media reports said.

This is reportedly the first such case reported in Pakistan.

The incident occurred on Friday.

The victim is identified as Mushtaq Ahmed.

The suspect, Ashfaq Khan, reportedly opened fire on him after an altercation broke out over removing him from the group.

Humayun Khan, the victim’s brother, told Arab News that he was present at the scene when Khan opened fire on his brother, saying they were not aware of the details of the altercation.

“My slain brother Mushtaq and Ashfaq had developed some differences in a WhatsApp group, forcing my brother to remove the latter. Ashfaq got infuriated and shot my brother dead,” Humayun told the news portal.

“It was a non-issue or a very trivial matter. No one in our family even knew about the dispute at all," he said.

Abid Khan, a local police officer, told Arab News that the brother of the deceased had lodged a complaint with police.

Abid said the suspect escaped from the scene after shooting at the victim.

Police are conducting raids to apprehend him.
