Pakistan reimposes restrictions amid rising Covid-19 cases

Less than three after Pakistan lifted all Covid019 related restrictions last month, officials were forced to announce fresh restrictions from the next week as the country saw a sudden spike in cases in some major cities.

According to a report on The News, the National Command and Operation Centre ( NCOC) Wednesday held discussions with the Federal Education Minister. During the discussion, it was decided to close down schools in several cities, including Islamabad, Peshawar, and Punjab province.

The education minister also said the education sector is directly linked to the disease, hinting it a possible reason behind spikes in cases.

In other regions, schools were ordered to conduct classes with 50 percent strength. Offices in Islamabad would also operate with 50 percent workforce; provincial authorities were instructed to impose restrictions on workplaces if they feel necessary.

The situation in Sindh, Baluchistan, and KP is under control while Punjab witnessed a sudden spike in the number of cases.

Norms like wearing masks, social distancing among other health guidelines would be enforced strictly.
