Pakistan President Alvi tests COVID19 positive

Islamabad: Pakistan President Arif Alvi has tested positive for COVID-19.

Confirming his health status, the president wrote on Twitter "I have tested +ive for Covid again. Had a sore throat since 4-5 days & was getting better. Felt mildly feverish for a few hours two nights ago."

"No other symptoms. So friends plz resume precautions & follow SOPs," he said.

The president got infected at the time when health authorities in the country were warning of the beginning of the fifth wave of COVID-19 infections triggered by the Omicron variant.
