Islamabad/UNI: Pakistan Prime Minister Imran Khan on Saturday expressed solidarity with the people of India over the current deteriorating situation of Covid-19 in the country.

"I want to express our solidarity with the people of India as they battle a dangerous wave of COVID-19," the Prime Minister tweeted.

Khan prayed for a speedy recovery to all those suffering from the pandemic. "We must fight this global challenge confronting humanity together," he averred.

India registered 3,46,786 fresh cases of Covid-19 and 2,624 deaths in the past 24 hours, the highest single-day spike in terms of cases and deaths since the outbreak of the pandemic.

Pakistan Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi too, in a tweet, extended heartfelt sympathies to the affected families in India.

"We express our support to the people of India in the wake of the current wave of COVID19 infections that has hit our region hard," he wrote.
