Pakistan: BAP candidate Siraj Raisani, 19 others killed in Mastung blast

Bannu, Pakistan, July 13 (IBNS): At least 19 people, including Balochistan Awami Party (BAP) candidate Nawabzada Siraj Raisani, were killed as a blast hit an election gathering in Pakistan's Darengarh area of Mastung on Friday.

Lashkari Raisani, the brother of Siraj, told Geo News: "I and Aslam Raisani are also receiving threats."

The blast left 25 others injured.

The explosion left around 25 people injured who were shifted to nearby hospitals and they are ascertaining the situation, Deputy Commissioner (DC) Qaim Lashari told Geo News, adding that they were ascertaining the situation.

Raisani was supposed to contest the upcoming polls from  PB-35 constituency.

He is also the younger brother of former Balochistan chief minister Nawab Aslam Raisani.

Bannu attack:

At least four people were killed and 31 injured in an explosion near an election rally of the Muttahida Majlis-e-Amal (MMA) in Haved area in northwest Pakistan's Bannu district on Friday.

The blast took place around 40 meters away from the venue of the public meeting.

Earlier reports had stated that the explosion targetted the convoy of Jamiat-e-Ulema Islam-Fazl’s Akram Khan Durrani, who is contesting on an MMA ticket from NA-35 (Bannu).

Geo News quoted officials as saying that the blast occurred 50 metres away from the rally site, adding that 40 policemen were deployed at the venue.
