Pak foreign minister rings up Chinese counterpart, briefs him on Pulwama development

Islamabad, Feb 25 (UNI) Pakistan Foreign Minister Makhdoom Shah Mahmood Qureshi on Monday spoke to Chinese State Councilor and Foreign Minister Wang Yi over the telephone on the evolving regional situation after the Pulwama terror attack and thanked Beijing for its steadfast support to his country.

The Pakistan Foreign Office in a statement said Qureshi told Wang about Pakistan's desire for peace and to resolve all issues through negotiations and dialogue with India.

He also highlighted the steps taken by Pakistan to de-escalate the situation.

According to the statement, Wang agreed that the unfolding regional situation was serious with implications for peace and security of the entire region.

The two foreign ministers agreed to stay in touch with each other over the regional developments, it said.
