Convicted war criminal Ghulam Azam dies

Dhaka, Oct 24 (IBNS): War criminal Ghulam Azam passed away at Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University in Bangaldesh's Dhaka city on Thursday, media reports said on Friday.

He breathed his last at the Cardiac Intensive Care Unit of the hospital at around 10:10pm.

He was 92.

"He was shifted to the Cardiac Intensive Care Unit on October 9 from the hospital's prison cell, where he had been kept since January 11, 2012. He was diagnosed with kidney problems, lungs infection and old-age complications," The Daily Star reported.

His body was handed over to his family on Friday, reports said.

For genocide and crimes against humanity,

Azam  was sentenced to 90 years in jail by a special tribunal last year.
