China: 100 feared buried following landslide

Beijing, Jun 24 (IBNS): Local authorities in China are fearing over a 100 casualties after people went missing following a landslide on Friday, reports said.

The accident took place in Xinmo village in Maoxian county.

Over 40 homes have been destroyed in the accident which took place after a side of a mountain collapsed.

State-run Xinhua news agency reported that the collapse has blocked a two-kilometre stretch of a river.

Landslides during the rainy season are a common occurrence in the mountainous regions of China.
