Moscow/Sputnik/UNI: Bulgarian Prosecutor General held a pre-trial investigation on suspicion that two Russian diplomats were spies, but the case was suspended due to the diplomatic immunity, the prosecutor's office said.

"After we were notified by the national security agency, the prosecutor general's office launched two pre-trial investigations on suspicion that a crime was committed against Bulgaria by two foreign citizens who were collecting classified information to hand over to another state or a foreign organization," the prosecutor general's office said.

According to the investigators, one of the suspects works at the consulate department of the Russian Embassy in Sofia, while another one works for the Russian trade mission. The prosecutor general's office said "the case against two Russian citizens was suspended due to their immunity" per Vienna convention.
