Bangladesh records seven more COVID-19 deaths
Dhaka/UNI: Bangladesh on Thursday recorded seventh death from COVID-19 with 414 newly infected cases, bringing the total number to 4,186.
It also recorded seven deaths from the virus, taking the tally to 127, said Health and Family Welfare Minister Zahid Maleque.
In the past 24 hours, samples of 3,416 people were examined. Out of them, 414 tested positive for COVID-19, and seven died from the virus, he said in DGHS' regular bulletin on coronavirus.
With this, the country's cases stood at 4,186, and deaths 127, the minister added.
During the period, 16 more coronavirus patients recovered, totaling the number to 108, he said.
In the briefing, minister Zahid also said around 4,500 Bangladeshi nationals caught the deadly virus in Singapore.
Bangladesh first reported its coronavirus cases on March 8. Since then the country has been witnessing increase in the infections and deaths.
Prof Nasima Sultana, ADG of the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS), was also present in the online briefing.
COVID-19 first emerged in the Chinese city of Wuhan in December last year, and then spread to 210 countries and territories.
As of Thursday the epidemic infected 2,645,961 people and killed 184,336 across the globe, according to Worldometer, a website which compiles number of new coronavirus cases and deaths from it.
However, total recovery from the coronavirus pandemic reached 723,297 across the world.
