Bangladesh: NTV’s joint chief news editor Shahid dies due to coronavirus

Dhaka/UNI: Abdus Shahid joint chief news editor of Bangladesh private television channel NTV passed away after being infected with Covid-19 at a hospital in Dhaka on Sunday morning. He was 63.

He breathed his last around 10:45 hours at the intensive care unit of Sheikh Russel Gastro Liver Hospital.

He was admitted to the hospital on July 28, days after he tested positive for Covid-19. He was also suffering from other health complications.

Chairman and Managing Director of NTV Al-haj Mohammad Mosaddak Ali expressed profound shock at his death. He prayed for the salvation of the departed soul and conveyed his deepest sympathies to the bereaved family members.

Shahid is survived by his wife and a son.

He started his career in journalism in 1980.
