Bangladesh MP murder: Three people detained

Dhaka, Jan 1 (IBNS): Bangladesh Police have detained three people who are suspected to be involved in the killing of Gaibandha MP Manjurul Islam Liton, media reports said on Sunday.

The identites of the three detained persons have not been disclosed by the police so far.

They were reportedly arrested from Sundarganj Upazila's Bamondanga area on Saturday.

Sundarganj Police Station Inspector Ashraful Islam was quoted as saying by bdnews24.com: "Several police teams are conducting search operations to arrest the killers. The identities of the detainees and other details about the operation will be revealed later."

Awami League MP Liton was shot by unidentified attackers at his home in Sarbananda on Saturday.

He later passed away at Rangpur Medical College Hospital.
