Bangladesh: Local Awami League leader shot dead

Dhaka, Sept 15 (IBNS): Unknown people shot dead a local Awami League leader in Bangladesh's Savar area, media reports said on Sunday.

The incident took place at the Kotbari Moholla in the municipality on Saturday night, Savar Model Police Station OC AFM Sayed was quoted as saying by bdnews24.

The deceased person was identified as Abdul Majid.

He was campaign official of the Awami League's municipal wing in Savar, local media reports said.

Majid’s associate 'Swapan', 24, was rescued from the spot with bullet wounds and has been admitted to a local hospital, reported the news portal.

Majid was heading home from his office in Kotbari Moholla with Swapan around 10pm when they were attacked.

They were rushed to Savar Enam Medical College Hospital where Majod was declared brought dead.
