Kabul, Mar 18 (IBNS); Afghanistan President Ashraf Ghani has invited Pakistan Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi to visit his nation.

The invitation was made after Ghani met a Pakistani delegation led by the neighbouring country's National Security Adviser Nasser Khan Janjua on Saturday.

Ghani tweeted: "Today, I received Pakistani NSA at Dilkusha palace. As a follow up to #Kabul process, I have extended an official invitation to Pakistani Prime Minister to visit #Afghanistan. This is to initiate state to state comprehensive dialogue."

The two sides discussed peace offer proposed by the Afghanistan government to the Taliban.

A statement issued by the President's official website read: "The two sides discussed the peace offer proposed to the Taliban by the Afghan Government and the launch of state-to-state dialogue with Pakistan."

"In their conversation, the importance and inevitability of regional connectivity and cooperation was highlighted. Both sides talked over ways of tackling the operation of criminal economy and terrorist networks in the region," the statement further said.

"President Ghani extended his official invitation to the Prime Minister of Pakistan to visit Kabul and engage with the Afghan Government on initiating the state-to-state dialogue between the two countries, a theme on which the second conference of Kabul Process was predominantly centered, it said.
