Why was Rahul Dravid appointed as Team India head coach? Sourav Ganguly's funny response

Dubai/IBNS: Indian cricket board (BCCI) president Sourav Ganguly came out with a reason, a rather hilarious one, behind appointing his former colleague in Team India, Rahul Dravid, as men's cricket head coach.

"I got a call from him saying his father was being too strict with him and that he needed to be taken away. That's when I called Rahul (Dravid) and told him that it was time for him to join the national team," Ganguly said while speaking at the 40th Sharjah International Book Fair.

Dravid has been appointed as Team India head coach as Ravi Shastri's tenure came to an end with the conclusion of the T20 World Cup.

Dravid, who is famously called as 'The Wall', has already landed in Jaipur for India's first T20 match against New Zealand in a bilateral series, which is set to begin on Nov 17.

The cricket icon had earlier coached India's Under-19 team before assuming the post of National Cricket Academy (NCA) head.
