Auckland, Mar 14 (IBNS) Brendan Taylor smashed gutsy 138 runs as Zimbabwe posted 287 runs against current World Champions India in a group stage match of the 50-over mega cricket tournament here on Saturday.

Taylor played the Indian bowlers, who have been quite successful in the tournament so far, easily and hammered 15 boundaries and five sixes in his 110-ball innings.

Zimbabwe were all out for 287 runs in 48.5 overs.

Taylor was joined by Sean Williams (50) in a vital 93 runs fourth wicket partnership which put up more pressure on the Indian bowling attack.

Craig Ervine  (27) and Sikandar Raza (28) made some crucial contributions with their willows.

While the spinners failed, the Indian fast bowlers performed quite well in the match.

Mohammed Shami (3-48), Umesh Yadav (3- 43) and Mohit Sharma (3-48) bowled out the opponents.

Zimbabwean batsmen and specially Taylor played the Indian spinners easily as both R Ashwin (1-75) and Ravindra Jadeja gave away runs in this match which is vital for the Indian side to test its resources ahead of their quater-final clash nest week.

India were struggling at 35 for the loss of two wickets after 10 overs.

Virat Kohli (11*) and Ajinkya Rahane (0*) are at the crease while India need 253 more runs to win the match.

India have lost both the openers Rohit Sharma (16) and Shikhar Dhawan ( 4).

Both the wickets have been taken by Tinashe Panyangara.
