Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy: Andhra Pradesh beats J&K by 36 runs

Srinagar/IBNS: The J&K senior cricket team suffered defeat against Andhra Pradesh in their first match under the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy T20 tournament at Alembic 2 Cricket Ground, Vadodara Thursday.

In the match, Andhra Pradesh piled up a total of 198 runs on board at the cost of one wicket and defeated the J&K side by 36 runs to bag four points.

KS Bharat was the only wicket to fall in the Andhra Pradesh inning to Mujtaba Yousuf after he secured 70 runs from 49 balls 

Ashwin remained unbeaten at 73 from 49 balls for Andhra Pradesh ,while Ricky Bhui scored an unbeaten 44 from 23 balls.

For J&K, Parvez Rasool gave away only 22 runs in his four over quota, while Umran Malik was the most expensive baller.

He gave away 58 runs in his four overs

Pacer Umran Malik who joined J&K directly in Vadodara after being part of India Team in UAE as net bowler was smashed all over by the Andhra Pradesh batsmen.

In reply to Andhra Pradesh, the J&K team managed to score only 162 runs for the loss of eight wickets.

The team started with Qamran Iqbal and Vivrant Sharma as the opening duo which later led to an high run rate requirement.

For Andhra Pradesh, Stephen took three wickets and KV Sasikant took two. 

J&K will next face Rajasthan on Friday.
