Spirited Zimbabwe loses to SA after fight
Posting a massive 339 runs for the loss of four wickets, South Africa bowled out Zimbabwe for 277 runs.
Zimbabwe gave South Africans early jolts by taking four quick wickets with the scorecard reading 83-4.
Giving pressure to the South African batting, Quinton de Kock (7), Hashim Amla (11), Faf du Plessis (24) and AB de Villiers (25) departed early. Zimbabwean bowlers were dominating the game at that point.
David Miller (138*), who was adjudged the man of the match, and JP Duminy (115*) added 256 runs int he fiftth wicket partnership which not only helped the side recover after the initial jolts but also made sure South Africa post a massive total on the scorecard.
Tinashe Panyangara, Tendai Chatara , Elton Chigumbura and Tafadzwa Kamungozi picked upa wicket each for Zimbabwe.
Chigumbura's men did not gave up the fight easily and it was riding on
Chamu Chibhabha's fighting 64 and Hamilton Masakadza's gutsy 80, the side posted 277 runs on the scorebaord.
Losing wickets at regular intervals did not help the cause for the African side while South African bowlers used their experience to register their first victory in the tournament.
Spinner Imran Tahir bowled brilliantly to take three wickets by giving away 36 runs in his 10 overs for South Africa.
